Dog Rips Up Couch To Show Mom He’s Unhappy She’s No Longer Working From Home

Bo is a clingy dog who loves snuggles. So when his mom Vickie Richards Shelton’s work-from-home arrangement was lifted, Bo showed separation anxiety.Recently, he tore off their huge living room couch, as if saying he wanted her to just stay at home with him. While people have been adjusting to the new normal, dogs have yet coped with it. Take it from Bo, who was upset that his mom’s office work has resumed. And he’s bold enough to let her know.

About two years ago, Bo was abandoned on the street when he was around four weeks old. His mom Vickie Richards Shelton found him “in a cardboard box somebody had thrown away.”“I’m an avid animal lover. When I saw the box move a bit, I went and looked and figured somebody had just abandoned him. I couldn’t not take him at that point,” Vickie told The Dodo.

Bo has grown up to be tremendously clingy to his mom, as well as to his seven dog siblings. Playing and snuggling are his usual thing, so it has become difficult for Bo to adjust when Vickie started going back to work when the lockdowns have been relaxed.

Vickie’s reporting back to work means more time together is over, so Bo displayed some separation anxiety.

To manage all her dogs while she’s away, the fur mom would place all of them in their own rooms. Recently, she assigned Bo to the living room, which seemed like a bad decision — Vickie came home to a living room covered in fluff! Upset Bo has ripped off the entire couch!

“I walked in, and he sat down in the middle of it like, ‘Look what I did for you, Mom,’” Vickie said. “I thought I’d been robbed. He even tore the stuffing off the sides of it — every cushion. I ended up with almost four big garbage bags full of ‘fluff’ and it took me a good couple hours,” Vickie added.

Bo had occasionally tattered some toys, but that was the first time he ripped up something as big as the couch! And that incident was followed by another mischief. Bo “crewed out of the crate and went through the door” when Vickie put him in it.

“I got home, and he greeted me at the door. I knew I was in trouble at that point. Not a scratch on him. I took him to the vet. He didn’t hurt his mouth, teeth or his paws. He’s a force to be reckoned with,” Vickie shared, who put Bo under medication to help with his anxiety.

Just like his mom, we hope you’ll get through it, little Bo. Your mom’s got you.
