Video footage captures the moment a retired police dog is reunited with her former handler where she appears to cry.Wangwang, the retired german shepherd worked as a sniffer dog at security checkpoints in central China.She was immediately adopted after retiring but this meant she was separated from her handler after years of working together.However, her old colleague decided to pay a surprise visit to his four-legged friend, while patroling a close-by neighbourhood.

Footage of this heartfelt reunion was shared online where the police officer can be seen calling for Wangwang from outside her home.Clearly realising who it was, the very excitable dog rushes out the front door and into his arms.While rubbing up against her old friends legs, she let out a little cry!

She melted viewers hearts all around the world, with one writing “The dog is welling up. Dogs are really loyal companions, please treat her well!”

Someone else said: “You can tell how much Wangwang misses her handler. You can understand when the dog greets you belly up.”

Some viewers wondered why Wangwang was not allowed to stay with her handler, who she is so clearly attached to.

Xichuan Police answered in the comments: “Police dogs are generally well fed at the training centre but our officers could not dedicate their time to play or exercise with retired dogs.

“They will be better looked after in a suitable family than staying in the training centre.”
