Mama Dog Who Lost Her Puppies Takes Care Of Orphan Kittens

Georgia lost all her babies during a premature labor and she was clearly miserable! That’s why Anita looked for parentless litters who might need a surrogate mother to help calm Georgia down. But she found no puppies, instead, she let Georgia nurse three of four newborn kitties and it was the best decision she’s made!Georgia was a pregnant stray dog who got rescued and was about to be brought to the Sunshine Dog Rescue in Phoenix, Arizona, when she suffered premature labor in the car.

She underwent an emergency C-section and was in anesthesia. When she woke up, although she was starving, the first thing she looked for were her babies. Unfortunately, none of them made it alive. The poor mama must’ve been devastated and Anita Osa, the founder of the center, was unsure how to help, because it was also her first time witnessing a dog losing her entire litter! All she knew that time was that she had to do something!

“The best way I could describe it was she was frantic,” she explained. “It was so sad, she was looking for those babies. She tore up the toddler mattress we had her on, trying to find her babies.”

Anita was desperate to help Georgia so she took it to Facebook and crowdsourced any parentless pups who would need a surrogate mom.

But nobody responded with parentless newborns — except for four tiny kittens!

“I was certainly unsure,” Anita said. “But I had seen other species nurse another species before, so I thought, ‘Worse case scenario, she doesn’t take to them, and I have some kittens I need to tend to myself.’”

The moment the kittens met Georgia, the change in her mood was drastic. Sadly, one of them did not survive, but the other three were definitely thriving! Anita slowly introduced the kittens to Georgia and let her smell them before putting them carefully in her bed.

“It’s amazing to see how she instantly calmed down,” Anita said. “I think for the kittens, they have no idea that Georgia is a dog,” she added. “The bond is strong. It’s really something to see: She protects those kittens just as if they were her babies.”

The best part for Georgia is that she’s already lined up for adoption, and so are the kitties!

It is just beautiful to see how the mama dog and the kitties found a way to heal each other. We should all learn to live for others always!
