Ace the cat is often misunderstood. He’s a bit different after losing one of his eyes to an infection, but he’s just the sweetest thing ever. He was rescued as a stray kitten and has lived life to the fullest ever since. But people are often hesitant to greet him, and children can find him scary.

That’s why it was such a surprise when the cat’s owners caught a little boy playing with Ace on the outdoor security camera. The neighbor kid takes time out of his routine almost daily to pet Ace and give him company. It melted the owners’ hearts.So they boy didn’t feel like he had to sneak around, they informed him that he’s welcome anytime.

And Ace has taken a mutual interest in the boy. The cat will be sitting by the front door when he sees his friend approaching, and he’ll run outside to greet him!

People will surely continue to shy away from Ace, but this little boy knows better than to judge a book by its cover.

These two best friends share an incredible bond, and it provides us with a great life lesson.
